Monday, July 25, 2005 - Checking a stock on the market!
You just were told that one of the housing stocks, TOL, has been doing
well lately.
You already own a home building stock (DHI), and it has been doing well in the last three months.
You also know that the oil stocks, like SUN; Harrar's grambling stock, HET, and Boeing, BA,
are also doing well.
You have learned to use Yahoo Finance's stock addressing schema.
So you type the following in your browser's address window:
"http://finance.yahoo.com" to get to the Yahoo Finance Service page,
then add "/q/bc" to get to the "qoutes" and "basic chart". Then
your enter "?s=TOL" to indicate the stock of interest. Then you enter
"&t=3m" for an interval for the last 3 months (or &t=1y for a year).
Next comes "?c=dhi, sun, het,ba" so you can compare these stock.
Thus, your entry looks like this:
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=TOL&t=3m?c=dhi,sun,het,ba
Well, did it work? This sure beats having to find the favorite/bookmark for
Yahoo Finance, and going through Yahoo's data entries.
Today, July 22, it looked like this! What does it look like now?
